2024 saw the Food Dialogues become the Food Indaba. The change in name reflected the shift in scale of the programme, with smaller regional ad hoc Food Dialogues informing a larger scale annual Food Indaba in Cape Town each year. 

The theme for 2024 was Food and the Economy, and explored the links between what we eat and the economy in which it is produced. It explored the politics of hunger across the planet.

The 2024 event featured 19 events across Cape Town, from the V&A Waterfront through Mowbray, Salt River, Langa and Philippi to Stellenbosch.
