Food Indaba

The Food Indaba is an annual programme of talks and events that focus on the local food system. It brings together a wide range of speakers involved in shaping the food system, providing an opportunity for food growers, academics, activists, writers, nutritionists, policy makers, food lovers and anyone interested in sustainable approaches, to engage in key issues intimately connected to the food we eat, and find ways to work together in creating a better food future. With 600 in-person attendees and a media audience reach over 120 million, Food Indaba is a major platform for food systems awareness and transformation.

Media Reach & Partnerships

Food Indaba 2025 reached an audience of 122,453,710 people through over 60 media placements across radio, television, online, and print. Spotlight features and thought leadership articles highlighted the voices of farmers, chefs, activists, and communities, keeping food systems at the centre of public conversation. Partnerships with Daily Maverick: Food Justice publication, SA Chef Magazine, A Table in the Corner Podcast, and Cape Town TV were key to this success, and these collaborations will continue beyond the Indaba to grow awareness and dialogue around food, farming, and community resilience.
